These were inspired by a Merovingian belt buckle that I saw at Frieze Masters (see the last image). I asked Hawsker Lapidary Works if they could produce something like the garnets in the buckle. They had a jar full of tumbled, pebble-like garnets and sent me various finishes. This is the result of their amazing work. The gold leaves hanging from the earrings are individually made from 18ct gold and move as you wear the earrings. Somebody pointed out that they also look like a mid-century, modern design.
