The Amazons were a tribe of fighting women, said to have cut off one breast to facilitate the drawing of a bow. In 2016 I made a Amazon Box, much larger, seen in the last image. Inside were smaller pearls, perhaps the breasts from the younger girls.
Of course nowadays, an Amazon box has a different meaning.
I had a commission earlier this year (2026), which included a tiny metal detected box (19 × 6 × 17 mm). We had a stand made for it, but in the event the client decided against the stand and wanted to wear it as a pendant. It was such an interesting little hinged box (seen in the picture second from the last), that I had a replica made of it in silver for a possible future project. I asked for the stand to be sent back to me and I though of doing a miniature version.
