Each of the stones has 23 carat gold leaf behind it which gives an amazing deep glow to them. The technique of using foil behind paste stones is an old one and it made the glass stones look more interesting. When real gold leaf is used behind real stones the effect is remarkable and quite mysterious.Again, I have to point out that diamonds do not sparkle in photographs but in real life they do. Here we have two faceted diamond slices and pipe cut diamond beads which form the necklace. Each of the five stones is surrounded by what we term, "shingle" made from 18 carat gold.
